Spatial Sense & Logical Thinking
How:
Build with blocks, talk about shapes and patterns in your home and in your surroundings. Take a walk outside, explore the space, and talk about all of the objects that you see.
Why:
Students with spatial sense understand 2D shapes and 3D objects and see relationships between them, but it also involves the capacity to relate to and navigate the world around them. Students with spatial sense can visualize and mentally rotate objects in their mind. Numerous research studies identify a strong relationship between spatial ability and mathematics achievement. Logical Thinking involves the development and application of mathematical reasoning which allows students to see patterns, make generalizations, and justify their thinking. This reasoning occurs with numbers but also spatially.
